    The Henrietta Goodwin Scholars (HGS) program supports students of the African diaspora to achieve academic and social success during their college experience at SDSU. Henrietta Goodwin was the first African Ameircan student to graduate from SDSU in 1913. In her spirit, we continue the tradution of Black excellence on our campus. Through the program students learn aobut career paths and professional fields to enhance their personal and professional networks. Students are assigned mentors and take courses that are designed to provide an academic learning environment where students feel safe, valued, supported, and successful. Students ake a courses with staff/faculty from the Black Resource Center and Africana Studies.

    Reflecting on Ruth Asawa and the Garden of Remembrance examines the legacy of Japanese American incarceration during WWII through the lens of the Garden of Remembrance (2000 - 2002), a permanent public art memorial created by Ruth Asawa and others for on San Francisco State University’s campus, honoring the resilience of this community. The artworks shown in the exhibition range from traditional to experimental in various media and explore ancestry, family histories and lived experiences resulting from Executive Order 9066, issued by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942. The exhibition includes Mark Baugh-Sasaki, Ruka Kashiwagi, Paul Kitagaki Jr., emerita professor Wendy Maruyama, Lisa Solomon and TT Takemoto.

    Join us for a tour of the lab of Dr. Richard Cripps, studying muscle development and disease using fruit flies as model organisms. The Chair of the Biology Department, Dr. Cripps uses fruit flies in his research because they have the same basic genetic tool box to make muscles as mammals do. Thus, by understanding how muscles form in the flies using a combination of genetics, cell biology, biochemistry and simple behavioral assays, we can gain insight into these processes in humans and other vertebrates.

    How do I get directions to where I need to go?
    Once you click on the Info Sessions, Open Houses or Tours tabs, and select the specific event, the name of the location will display. Click on the name of the location and the campus map will appear. Select the directions icon (Directions icon), use the default starting point or type in a new starting point, and click on Get Directions. You can also view the campus map PDF and determine the best walking path.
    Can I create a schedule ahead of time and save a copy of My Planner to use during Explore SDSU Admitted Student Day?
    Yes, once you select your events under the Info Sessions, Open Houses, and/or Tours tabs, click on the My Planner tab and select the Download/Print button. You can either Save as PDF to your device or print your schedule. The PDF will keep the locations hyperlinked, which will help with getting walking directions on the day of the event. You can also email a copy of your schedule to yourself by selecting the statement checkbox, entering your email address, and clicking on the Submit button.
    Will My Planner save my schedule on the website?
    You can view your schedule on the My Planner tab if you use the same device that you originally used to create your schedule. You cannot create your schedule on one device and use a different device to view your schedule on the website.
